Will Lidhaze run on my Mac?
Lidhaze runs on every MacBook Pro 14" and 16" from 2021 and every MacBook Air from M2, with macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. Not supported: MacBook Air M1, MacBook Pro 13" with M1 or M2 and Intel MacBooks – for the MacBook Pro 16" (2019) please just test it. The app tells you right away at launch if your Mac has no readable sensor.

Honestly: when you close the lid, the Mac sleeps and usually locks the screen. When you open it, macOS shows the lock screen – and for security reasons no app may draw over it, Lidhaze included. When closing you always see the effect. If you want it when opening too: System Settings → Lock Screen → set “Require password after …” to e.g. 5 minutes. Keep in mind that during that time anyone can open your Mac without a password.
Why doesn’t it work on the MacBook Air M1 or MacBook Pro 13"?
These models have no lid angle sensor an app can read. No real angle means no effect that follows your hand – and we didn’t want to sell a timer-based imitation. On such Macs the app shows a clear message at launch.
Why isn’t Lidhaze in the App Store?
Lidhaze reads the lid sensor directly through a hardware interface and draws a layer over the entire screen. That doesn’t fit the App Store sandbox rules, so we sell directly. The app is still signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple – meaning it was automatically checked for malware.
How does the free trial work?
Download the app, drag it into Applications, launch it. You can use Lidhaze with all features for 7 days – no account, no email, no payment details. After that the effect and sound pause until you activate a licence. Nothing renews automatically.
What if I don’t like it after buying?
Within 14 days of purchase you get your money back, no reason needed. Just send a short email to kontakt@lidhaze.com or reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt.
How much does Lidhaze cost?
The regular price is €4.99, one-time. For the launch there’s a price of €1.99 until December 31, 2026, 11:59 pm (Berlin time). After that the regular price applies automatically. One licence covers 2 Macs.
On how many Macs can I use Lidhaze?
One licence covers 2 Macs. To switch, click “Deactivate on this Mac” under Settings → Licence on the old Mac and activate the key on the new one.
Is Lidhaze safe? Which permissions does it need?
None in particular. Lidhaze needs no screen recording, accessibility or camera access. The app is signed and notarized by Apple. It only reads the lid angle and draws a click-through layer over the built-in display.
Does the effect drain the battery?
Barely. With the lid open Lidhaze uses about 1 % CPU. While you close the lid, the effect renders at 120 frames per second so it looks smooth – and that only lasts a moment.
What happens on external displays?
Nothing. The effect only appears on the MacBook’s built-in display. External monitors stay as they are.
Can I keep working during the effect?
Yes. Mouse clicks pass right through the effect. If you only half-close the lid and open it again, the effect disappears.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to activate your licence. After that the app re-checks the licence every 7 days. Without internet it keeps working for up to 30 days.
What language is the app in?
In English and German. Lidhaze automatically follows your Mac’s language. You can also pick the language yourself in the settings under “System”.
